Forty thousand cars and trucks cross Tower Bridge every day!

Rivets

A Red Brick Bridge
There are 2 million rivets in Tower Bridge!
If Horace Jone had had his way, Tower Bridge would be clad in RED BRICK!

Each linear foot of the suspension chain weighs one ton! That's about the same weight as a car!
London bus

Frank McLean
On 30th December 1952, a London bus jumped over the bascules of Tower Bridge! The operator had mistakenly raised the bascules when traffic was still on the bridge. Nobody was hurt, and the bus driver was given a reward for quick thinking!
In 1912, Frank McLean flew his biplane under the bridge! Since then, 6 other aviators have repeated the feat. Some of them died.
